Financial Analyst / Controller

Job Responsibilities:

 

Financial analysis and processes

 

  • Establish a process to monitor cost of projects
  • Establish a process to monitor cost of delays in projects implementation
  • Establish a process to calculate the suggested ROI on products and services
  • Establish a process to monitor cost of sales
  • Prepare budget forecast (best scenario, worst scenario, most-probable scenario)
  • Prepare budget split by department (help optimize and cap investment in internal resources, both: people and infrastructure)
  • Present financial reporting and potential risk areas to senior management
  • Review budget proposals and funding requests from departments
  • Conduct cost/benefit and other types of analyses
  • Submit budget recommendations for approval or rejection of funding requests
  • Explain and defend recommendations to management and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with VP’s to develop final consolidated budget
  • Suggest improvements to increase profits (e.g. project pricing, based on costs)

 

Control

 

  • Track billable vs non-billable activities by project
  • Prepare and maintain time-phased Trace Reports on amounts specified in SOWs and their flow through Submitted Invoices, Paid Invoices, A/R and all the adjustments (by customer and by project)
  • Monitor and track sales commission
  • Reconcile and ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Oversee expenditure and identify trends in spending
  • Develop and document accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Work with our accountant on TAX preparation

 

Key Qualifications

 

  • 5+ years of experience as a financial analyst (both cost and revenue)
  • Proven working experience in software development and/or consulting industry
  • Experience as financial controller
  • Degree in Financial Management or Accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Strong analytical skills

VB.Net Developer for Windows Desktop Applications

Our team of developers is full of very talented, creative, and accomplished people. To ensure that we stay ahead of the curve, we encourage learning and allow developers to dedicate 10 to 20% of their time to work on the technology roadmap of their choice.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop front end of the Retalon application using VB.net
  • Able to work on back end processes in Java, and SQL
  • Design, implementation, creating unit tests, deployment, and maintenance of the system components
  • Work with the development team, product owner and business team to gather requirements
  • Work on overall infrastructure and architecture of the solutions
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies

 

Skills Requirements:

 

  • 5+ years of software development experience with a demonstrable portfolio of work
  • Designed, coded and modified VB .Net client/server applications (front end)
  • Profound knowledge of VB.Net developing windows forms
  • Extensive programming knowledge of .NET framework 4.6 and XML
  • Solid knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Good Java, SQL skills (back end) is definite asset

Scrum Master & Agile Facilitator

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values.
  • Coach the team to higher levels of Agile/Scrum maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
  • Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.

 

Skills Requirements:

 

  • Experience playing the Scrum Master / Agile Facilitator role for at least one year for a software development team that was diligently applying Agile/Scrum principles, practices, and theory
  • Post-secondary education in Mathematics or Statistics is a plus.
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Lean, Crystal, FDD
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games

Senior Software (Java) Developer

Retail SME Consultant

 Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Consult with retailer clients and revolutionize their retail operations by leveraging Retalon’s predictive analytic solutions in planning, inventory management, pricing, and promotion.
  • Deliver excellent customer experience through exceptional service and project execution
  • Identify opportunities to expand project footprints.
  • Build rapid rapport with client stakeholders and serve as their advocate and advisor.
  • Craft custom solutions and align them with client business objectives.
  • Raise clients’ practical knowledge of Retalon system and processes.
  • Deliver client training sessions.
  • Lead requirement gathering sessions and develop solution documents.

  • Degree in mathematics or statistics is an asset
  • Experience in fashion or apparel environment in the areas of merchandise and assortment planning is an asset

Agile Product Owner

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Understand client expectations, requirements, and the business value they expect.
  • Participate in gathering and analyzing of business requirements by means of interviews, workflow analyses and facilitated discussions with product architect, professional services, marketing teams, and users.
  • Construct high-level product epics and features, and develop them into user stories that are granular enough for a sprint, and convey the goals and vision for each sprint.
  • Craft and manage a product backlog that clearly articulates all aspects of the user requirements and define well-formed acceptance criteria.
  • Work with the team to estimate effort to deliver client requirements.
  • Assist quality assurance with functional test case reviews.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on the evaluation of the feasibility, effort, and costs to implement requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering, quality assurance and non-technical stakeholders during the development and deployment process.
  • Deliver product demonstrations and presentations to the team.

 

Key Qualifications:

 

  • Outstanding analytical skills (subject to a written test)
  • Min 5 years’ experience in gathering and documenting requirements and modelling/structuring system features
  • Min Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, computer science or mathematics/statistics
  • Practical knowledge of Agile/Scrum process
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in release management, including feature management, creation of roadmaps and milestone markers
  • Experience in data mining and statistical analysis
  • Retail systems experience
  • Hands-on experience in Product Management
  • Knowledge of Atlassian suite tools like JIRA and Confluence
